urgent that the Ministry of Environment Implement Another solution to the excess water that accumulates on a daily basis Lake Valencia

Sanitarian For Mr. Manuel Pérez Rodríguez, Technical Coordinator of the Movement for Quality of Water, Ministry of Environment is in arrears since 2005, when emergency was declared in the Lake of Valencia by the sustained rise in time the level of its waters, and ordered its implementation the current transfer to the reservoir Cachinche, without making the environmental impact study, providing as we now know, the more damage to already precarious ecological balance of the reservoir with chemical pollution contribution to it.

In Lake Valencia have the untenable situation of progressive increase of water level, having reached at last August 31 of the elevation 410.71 m. It is recalled that the maximum operating altitude defined by the MARN is 408 , 00 and the maximum critical dimension the 411 meters so urgently find a solution directly from within Lake Valencia to this surplus water, whose origin comes from the water transfer for consumption by the population, from the basin of the Rio Pao. As is known, the water that supplies the Central Regional Water Supply System in the states of Aragua and Carabobo and Cojedes Tinaquillo in the state came from this basin and with the exception of water sent to Tinaquillo, we can say that more than 65 percent of this water eventually drains into Lake Valencia over the surface watercourses fifteen counties located on the banks of Lake Valencia.

For Mr. Manuel Pérez Rodríguez most viable option is installing a pumping station in Sector Cabito Punta, Municipality Guacara with a discharge pipe looking regional highway and then downtown via highway to Bárbula diversion. It requires a booster station at the height of the Urb Carialinda and download later in the Rio Aguas Calientes in the trenches, Naguanagua Municipality. This option has several advantages such as:

1 .- Very high technical - economic feasibility of execution,
2 .- Due to the salinity of Lake Valencia, there will be no negative environmental impact as the Rio Aguas Calientes tributary of the Caribbean Sea.
3 .- You can take this topographical elevation difference between Carialinda and trenches to generate hydroelectric power to move the bombs themselves of this system and still remain a surplus of energy which could be used in the Municipality Naguanagua.

Urge while ceasing the diversion from Lake Valencia to the Pao Cachinche because it is well established that since 2007, the quality of water in this reservoir has deteriorated and chemical pollution that is causing the same should be considered an offensive action against the population.

Finally, it urges the Ministry of the Environment to immediately undertake actions for realizing this preferential option, since it will not cause any negative environmental impact on watershed inside the country. It is recalled that the waters of Lake Valencia are salty and have drastically increased the electrical conductivity of water stored in Cachinche, as can be seen in the chart attached to this which has been prepared by the Movement for Quality of Water, which is always ready to help in solving the serious and complex health situation - environmental affects a population of more than 3 million people.
